Community Feedback

Community feedback is important for the RESET study for many reasons, including:

To obtain meaningful feedback before the study is approved or rejected by the hospital’s Institutional Review Board (IRB). The study will be reviewed and approved by the IRB at each hospital before patients can be enrolled at that hospital. The IRB will also regularly review the study to make sure it is being performed in a safe and ethical way. The main purpose of an IRB is to protect the rights and welfare of patients who participate in clinical studies.

To evaluate information to ensure the community can understand the proposed study, its risks and benefits, and ability to understand the process of Exception from Informed Consent (EFIC), how it relates to the RESET study and how it may affect community members.

Anyone interested in providing community feedback for the RESET study can use one of two methods:

What is a Focus Group?

A focus group is a research technique used to collect data through group interaction. Each focus group may have 4-5 participants, a moderator, and a representative from the community to explain the research study. Participants will have an opportunity to learn more about the study and will be able to provide responses to the survey questions electronically.
